Custom Packaging of Raw Powder into Fiber Drums
A customer in the casting and foundry industry needed a large amount of a raw material in powder form packaged and delivered to them on a regular basis (15,000 lbs. per week). The powder was to be packaged in three methods each with specific requirements.
The first part of the order required the raw material to be repackaged into bags that varied in weight from 4 ounces to one pound, packaged in poly bags, they were sealed with tape. The second was varied in size from two ounces to 1 pound, and required repackaging on a form fill sealing machine. Both the first and second filling project required that bag weight be within 0.026 lbs.
The third part required the material to be packaged into fiber drums. Varying in weights of 300, 350, 400 pounds, the filled drums had the customers label applied, and where then skidded and banded. To maintain accuracy, the scales used to weight the drums was recalibrated every fourth drum.
